In the eastern region of Colombia, enjoy a 6-day fishing trip for peacock bass on the lower section of the Bita River, which runs through Los Llanos. This trip offers the experience of spin or fly fishing from a boat. You'll receive three meals a day, with accommodation in a riverside campsite. The Bita River has been designated as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, which means it is very rich in biodiversity, including flora and fauna. It features beautiful flooded forests, crystal-clear waters, stunning beaches, and a diverse fish population. This tour offers 8 days, 7 nights, and 6 full fishing days on the Río Bita. Tour capacity: 6 anglers.

Day 1: Departure from Bogotá, flying to Puerto Carreño. Upon arrival in Puerto Carreño, transfer from the airport to the campsite.

Accommodation is provided in an 8-person riverside campsite, with tents that have 1 or 2 sleeping spaces. Mattresses, blankets, pillows, and fans are provided.

Fishing takes place from boats with a capacity for 2 to a maximum of 3 people, accompanied by a local guide. You can catch peacock bass weighing up to 10 kg, with a typical size ranging from 3-6 kg and a daily catch of 5-10 fish. It's strongly recommended to bring rain gear, a mask, hat, gloves, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts. Be prepared for high humidity and UV exposure. The guide speaks only Spanish.

Use of lip grips and any other tools that may harm the fish is not advised.

Peacock bass should be released after photographing.

A passport valid for at least 6 months is required to enter the country, and there are no mandatory vaccinations.

Which month should I go?
The season runs from November to April. It tends to rain more frequently in November, but the rivers are still fishable.

What equipment is recommended?
- Fly fishing: 10-12 weight rods. Recommended flies include mice, poppers, and streamers between 12-16 cm, in color combinations like fluoro green-white, black-red, black-lemon, purple, blue, and green.
- Spinning: 20-30 gram spinning rods, PE 1.5 braided line, and 0.50 mono or fluorocarbon leader.

Fishing will be done on a river, sometimes with bushy and wooded banks (snaggy).

What is a typical day like?
After a group breakfast, you'll head out for fishing. Lunch is packed and enjoyed mid-day, followed by more fishing until late afternoon, returning to the camp before 6:30 PM.

Is the region safe?
Absolutely, many tourists and anglers visit this area throughout the year.
