The Colombian "lowlands," known as Los Llanos, are justly famous worldwide for their huge peacock bass and payara. Enjoy five full days of riverboat fishing, with all meals included. Arrival is by car from Bogotá, with accommodation in riverside camping.

Here, you can catch your first massive payara or peacock bass, whether fly fishing or spinning. Fishing is conducted from a boat with a local guide, with 2 anglers per boat. For an additional fee, there is an option for 1 angler per boat (recommended for fly fishers), or even for extending your fishing trip to more than 5 days. Arrival is on Sunday, with fishing from Monday to Friday. The tour has a capacity of 10 anglers.

Day 1: Departure from Bogotá on Sunday at 10:00 AM by car (pick-up at your accommodation), arriving in Puerto Gaitán late afternoon or evening. Lunch in a restaurant along the way, and dinner at the camp after settling in.

Day 7: Departure back to Bogotá on Saturday morning. Breakfast at the camp, lunch en route. Arrival at your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Accommodation is in tents at the riverside campsite, with one person per tent.

Fishing is conducted from two-person boats with a local guide, but kayak fishing is also an option. Peacock bass up to 7-8 kg can be caught, with the largest one at this camp weighing 9 kg. Typical size is 4-6 kg, with a daily catch of 3-4 fish. It is strongly recommended to bring rain gear, a mask, hat, gloves, long pants, and long-sleeve shirts. Be prepared for high humidity and UV radiation.

The guide speaks only Spanish.

It is advised not to use lip grips or any other devices that might harm the fish.

Peacock bass and payara should be released after photographing.

To enter the country, a passport valid for at least 6 months is required, and there are no mandatory vaccinations.

Coverage is limited at the tour location.

- A change of clothes for the plane and land travel
- 3 sets of light clothing for walking and wading (long pants, long-sleeve shirt or T-shirt, lightweight fast-drying hiking shoes), mask and gloves, preferably with insect protection
- Sleepwear (base layer)
- Personal toiletries (toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, etc.)
- If you are vegetarian or have a special diet, please indicate in advance or bring your own food to prepare
- Identification documents
- Personal medications (in a separate waterproof box or bag)
- Swimwear

- Natural sunscreen, without chemicals. Insect repellent. (We recommend starting thiamine - vitamin B1 a week before travel)
- Headlamp (Petzl headlamps with Core batteries are recommended for reliability)
- Power bank (to charge mobile phone battery)
- 100% waterproof backpack
- Medium-sized microfiber towel (recommended for weight and volume)
- Waterproof poncho or rain jacket
- Tetanus vaccine is recommended

Cancellation Policy:

Clients may cancel their tour or activity at any time, but Pez Blanco reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee based on the timing of the cancellation. These fees are as follows:

For fishing trips canceled in writing at least 30 days before the start of the booked tour (Day 1), 50% of the trip cost will be refunded. For cancellations made with less notice, a 70% cancellation fee will apply.

To cancel your trip, please contact us at info@pezblanco.co. Refunds will be issued within 15 business days following the effective date of cancellation.

Any additional costs incurred by the client due to events within or beyond the control of Pez Blanco or force majeure situations (such as natural disasters, pandemics, terrorism, strikes, or political issues) remain the sole responsibility of the client. Flights may be subject to overbooking, delays, rescheduling, or cancellations. Should this occur, we will assist our clients in arranging alternatives to the best of our ability. However, Pez Blanco is not responsible for denied boarding, delays, or canceled flights, nor for any additional expenses incurred due to airline delays or cancellations.

When do I need to pay for the fishing tour?
50% at the time of booking and the remaining 50% at least 90 days before the start of the tour.

Which month should I go?
The season runs from November to April. It tends to rain more frequently in November, but the rivers are still fishable.

What equipment is recommended?
- Fly Rod: 10-12 weight rods.
- Flies: Mice, poppers, streamers ranging from 12-16 cm. Color combinations like fluoro green-white, black-red, black-lemon, purple, blue, green are suggested.
- Spinning: 30-40 gram spinning rods, PE 1.5 braided line, and 0.50 mono or fluorocarbon leader. Use a steel leader resistant to payara bites.

You'll be fishing on a river with bushy, wooded banks (snaggy).
