For those who did not come to Colombia specifically for fishing but can fit in a 1-3 day fishing trip. We provide equipment, and the tour is also suitable for families with children. It is exceptionally safe in every aspect. Fishing is done from a boat.

If you don't have 10 days to fish in Colombia, but you're passing by and your dream is to catch your first peacock bass, this program is made for you. Between Bogotá and Medellín, in Caldas county, lies a huge reservoir home to various types of peacock bass. You have the option to fish for just one day or more than two days.

No worries if you're with your family – in fact, if they love water and nature, they'll enjoy their time here. In recent years, the town has grown into a tourist center. Alongside stunning rivers and nature, the area is extremely safe for visitors.

Day 1
Departure from Medellín at 11:00 AM by car (pickup at your accommodation). Arrival at the accommodation in Norcasia in the late afternoon. Lunch on the way and dinner after check-in.

Day 2
Meeting at the accommodation at 6:00 AM, then departure to the reservoir for fishing until 6:00 PM. Breakfast and lunch on the boat, dinner at a local restaurant after returning to the accommodation.

Day 3
Meeting at the accommodation at 6:00 AM, then departure to the reservoir for fishing until 6:00 PM. Breakfast and lunch on the boat, dinner at a local restaurant after returning to the accommodation.

Day 4
Departure back to Medellín at 9:00 AM. Breakfast before departure, lunch on the way.

Fishing is done from a boat with a local guide. Peacock bass up to 10 kg can be caught, with an average size of 2-5 kg and 3-4 fish per day.

Rain gear, mask, cap, gloves, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts are highly recommended. Expect high humidity and strong UV radiation.

The guide speaks only Spanish.

The use of lip grips and any other tools that could harm the fish is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

Peacock bass must be released immediately after photographing.

To enter the country, a passport valid for at least 6 months is required. There are no mandatory vaccinations.

At the fishing location, there is little to no network coverage, and mobile phones do not work.

Which airport should I fly to?
Medellín has two airports: Olaya Herrera Airport, located in the city, serving only domestic flights, and the international José María Córdova International Airport, located outside the city, for international flights.

When should the fishing tour be paid?
50% of the price is due at the time of booking, and the remaining 50% no later than 90 days before the tour starts. No refunds are possible.

What is the best time to go?
There are no seasons in this area. From November to April, there is less rain, but heavy showers can still occur during this period.

What equipment is recommended?

Fly fishing: 10-weight fly rod.
Flies: mice patterns, poppers, and streamers between 12-16 cm in fluorescent green-white, black-red, black-yellow, purple, blue, and green color combinations.
Spinning: 20-30g spinning rods, PE 1 braided line, with 0.50 mono or fluorocarbon leader.

A reservoir with few underwater obstacles.

Peacock bass and, rarely, mueluda (also known as dorada).

On average, 3-4 fish per day.

What does an average day look like?
After breakfast, meeting in front of the accommodation. A 5-10 minute tuk-tuk ride takes you to the harbor. Fishing starts from the boat at 6:30 AM. Lunch is a packed meal enjoyed on the water, followed by fishing until sunset. Return to the accommodation between 6:30-7:00 PM.
